Battery Foil, sheet and cylinder welding

A wide spectrum of welding applications, including prismatic and cylindrical Li-ion batteries by utilizing longitudinal or torsional welding techniques.

In the cell assembly, the bonding of the conductor foils (anode - copper and cathode - aluminium) with the cell conductors (pouch cell) or with the contact terminals (e.g. round cell) is done with Telsonic Ultrasonics using the longitudinal or, alternatively, the torsional welding process. Depending on the cell design, the foil thicknesses (anode - copper foil and cathode – aluminium foil) vary between 8 μm and 25 μm. The quality characteristics of the ultrasonic welding process are lower contact resistance and low mechanical and thermal stress during the welding process.
